inside
lost
as the tide comes in and the waves begin to swell
forever at a distance
content, and yet not in the simplest of things

i never know the right questions
will i always be this vague in my answers

a familiar scent
pleasant
indeed welcome
even the smallest things remind me
i want to remember
that scent
enough to bring me down

flooding memories
distracting
                  overwhelming
loss of breath
maybe i'm just tired

honestly, i'm not sure what i can say about my poems. i feel compelled to write and i write. oh yeah, notice that i used punctuation in this one. it as only once but i never do that so i guess that counts for something.

that is really cool. i enjoy the contrast between small and subtle memories, and reminders, compared to the last "flood" of "overwhelming memories" in the last portion. a person can connect with this very easily.

thanks michael. that, actually, was one element that i was attempting to capture. i'm glad that you caught it. hooray for smartness.
